I soon figured out that no one wants a anxious, sleep-deprived, and nerve racked dancer in a kick line. Let alone a kick line where everyone is in sync with twenty other dancers.
So I figured I had to switch it up a little this year.
Rule #1: SMILE.
My cheeks were killing me by the end of this audition. But it was totally worth it. I gave off a total care-free, happy go lucky vibe, and it looked like I actually enjoyed what I love to do! (which I do!)
Rule #2: Chill OUT!
I freaked when I auditioned last year. Looking back, I completely understand why. It was my first major audition in the city. It's kinda crazy when you think about it. All these other dancers want the same thing you do. So how are you going to get it? My first attempt was to hide in the back and try not to be seen. Um news flash Kristen...that just doesn't work. Which leads me to my third rule...
Rule #3: Show them what you know you can do.
I did just that. While smiling like a goon the entire time, I pushed myself to the front and forced myself to be seen. And...well...I guess it worked!
I got an email. Probably opened it up around ten thirty-ish and was ready to just relax and go to bed.
When I tell you I screamed. I am pretty sure people in France heard me. My mom thought I died or something. Well I sorta died and went to dance heaven.
I had been accepted into the Rockette Summer Intensive. (YIKES!)
It was one of the most exciting moments I had ever felt....up until this week.
Little did I know how hard it was going to be. Those Rockettes make it look like cake, all that kicking and dancing they do. They are one of the most iconic groups in New York City, and all people think they do is kick. Well, yes they do kick. But it is so much more. A dance style that is all precision, strength, and grace from your fingers to your toes (literally!).
It was one of the hardest week of my life.
And I loved every minute of it.
(They were filming America's Got Talent when we got our tour! cool huh?)

It was such an amazing experience. I cannot even explain. I met so many different and wonderful people dancing. With lots of new friends :)
Amazing.
I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole world.
Lots of Love~
Kristen
